Carry out functions related to the regulation, oversight, and control of water transport, navigation, and the national port system, as well as all acts, activities, and assets connected to maritime commerce; ensuring marine environmental protection and comprehensive safety through compliance with national laws and the various international conventions ratified by Nicaragua that pertain to the maritime and port sector.
To be a Maritime and Port Authority that facilitates and promotes—through the implementation of an appropriate maritime and port policy—the provision of competitive and safe maritime-port services, encouraging the growth of both international and domestic maritime trade for the benefit of the country, while harmonizing the interests of the State, service providers, and users.
