RED MAMLa PARTICIPATES IN THE XXIV REGULAR MEETING OF ROCRAM
The XXIV Ordinary Meeting of the Regional Cooperation Network of Maritime Authorities of the Americas (ROCRAM) was held in Lima, Peru. The meeting was organized by the General Directorate of Port Authorities and Coast Guard of Peru (DICAPI), which serves as the organization’s Secretary General. The meeting included participation from the main maritime authorities.
Over the course of three days, representatives of the member states discussed a wide-ranging agenda aimed at strengthening maritime safety, marine environmental protection, seafarer training, and regional technical cooperation.

Topics of note included the mitigation of radiated underwater noise, management of microplastics in marine ecosystems, strengthening maritime search and rescue (SAR) operations, and mutual recognition of seafarer certifications. A proposal was presented to establish measures to protect cetacean species along routes, and initiatives to combat organized maritime crime were promoted.
During the meeting, the STCW Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the maritime authorities of Peru and Ecuador, reflecting their bilateral commitment to training and certifying maritime personnel.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review progress on the Viña del Mar Agreement, share experiences regarding maritime single windows, and analyze the Regional Maritime Strategy for 2026–2030.
Institutionally, the Board of Directors and the Drafting Committee were elected, and nominations were made for the ROCRAM General Secretariat for the 2027–2028 term.
The event concluded with the approval of the final report and the signing of resolutions, which solidified the commitment of the member countries to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable maritime management for the benefit of the region.
