RED MAMLa PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON MARITIME CRIME
The Latin American Women Maritime Authorities Network (Red MAMLa) participated in the 5th edition of the “International Forum on the Frontline Fight Against Organized Crime: Maritime Crime, a Challenge for the Caribbean Region,” held at Sergio Arboleda University in Santa Marta, Colombia.
The event brought together national and international experts to discuss the main challenges facing the region regarding maritime crime, smuggling, migrant trafficking, and drug trafficking, while promoting spaces for academic analysis and the exchange of experiences among stakeholders from the maritime, legal, and institutional sectors.
Representing the MAMLa Network, the organization’s Communications Director, Dayanis Escorcia, delivered a presentation on the network’s history and impact since its founding in 2017. During her intervention, she highlighted the motivations driving the collaborative work of women leaders in the Latin American maritime sector, as well as the achievements reached, the strengthening of strategic alliances, and the projected vision for growth in the coming years.

Dayanis Escorcia also shared the MAMLa Network’s five-year strategy and strategic pillars, aligned with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) “Women in Maritime” program, focused on increasing the visibility, empowerment, and positioning of Latin American women within the regional and international maritime industry.
During the event, recognition was also given by the organization Marea de Guardianes to the Social Outreach Coordination of the Sergio Arboleda University School of Law for its work and commitment to protecting the maritime environment.
