RED MAMLa CELEBRATES THE FIRST COURSE FOR WOMEN PORT STATE CONTROL OFFICERS
Red MAMLa celebrates the completion of the first course for women Port State Control Officers (OSERP), developed within the framework of the Viña del Mar Agreement (AVM).
This historic event was delivered by the Argentine Naval Prefecture, with funding from the Government of Malaysia through the IMO’s Latin American Technical Cooperation Section, and was supported by the host country, the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine (DGMM) of the Republic of Honduras, and the Central American Maritime Transport Commission (COCATRAM).

This was the second stage of the course, which was held in person after three weeks of virtual training supervised by the Secretariat of the Viña del Mar Agreement.
During this phase, the participants carried out theoretical and administrative work related to supervision tasks, as well as on-site training in Puerto Cortés, aboard ships in port. The activities included visits to the National Port Authority (ENP) and
Central American Port Operator (OPC), where the officers had the opportunity to learn about the “Ruta Rosa” initiative, a program noted for its commitment to gender equality in the port environment. At Red MAMLa, we highlight the importance
this pioneering course, which strengthens the technical skills of women in the maritime sector and promotes their active participation in port supervision and control functions, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and continuous training that characterizes our region
