Peru’s privileged geographical position and its characteristics provide various opportunities for the development of activities in the maritime domain across the entire territory (seas, rivers, and lakes). With a coastline of 3,080 km, Peru has a total of 62 ports, of which 45 are maritime, 11 riverine, and six lacustrine. The most important of these are Callao (central), Paita (north), and Matarani (south).
Activities within the aquatic domain are managed by the Directorate General of Captaincies and Coast Guard.
