El Salvador has a coastline 307 km long and 3 seaports that handle around 5,000 tons annually. Its main export products are: gold coffee, sugar, tuna, corn flour, cane molasses, sweets, cuttings, cheeses, and honey.
Maritime and port activity is under the responsibility of the National Naval Force.
NATIONAL MARINE FORCE
The National Marine Force is a naval entity that forms part of the Armed Forces of El Salvador. It is responsible for defending maritime sovereignty, protecting national maritime interests, and controlling illicit activities such as illegal fishing.
The Armed Forces have the mission of defending the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of its territory.
To be the institution responsible for guaranteeing the defense of the State’s sovereignty and the integrity of its territory, with a high level of professionalism, technological capability, efficiency, and versatility, enabling it to respond to both traditional threats and those posed by transnational crime and cyberattacks; while also establishing itself as an important continental reference in contributing to UN peacekeeping operations.
