Its coastline is approximately 640 kilometers long, comprising a total of 9 ports located throughout its Coastal Region. The Coastal Region is made up of seven provinces (Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Manabí, Guayas, Santa Elena, Los Ríos, and El Oro), which feature beaches and seaside resorts that are highly attractive for tourism.
Maritime and port activity is under the responsibility of the Undersecretariat of Ports and Maritime and River Transport.
