1 August 2025 will go down as a momentous date for the maritime and port sectors in Mexico and the wider region.
For the first time, a woman will take the helm of the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine, one of the most emblematic agencies responsible for navigation, maritime safety and the development of national maritime trade.
Captain Claudia Hernández Sordo, a graduate of the Tampico Merchant Marine Academy with an impeccable professional career and a deep commitment to the sector, will take on this historic responsibility, inspiring more women to lead and excel in these waters.
The Latin American Network of Women Maritime Authorities celebrates this appointment and wishes Captain Hernández Sordo every success in her new role.
