Lieutenant First Class Valeria León Maturana, an Officer of the Chilean Navy and Alternate Representative of the Latin American Women in Maritime Authorities Network (Red MAMLa), was awarded the Distinguished Honor Graduate, the highest distinction granted upon completion of the IACAP 2-26 Course, held at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) in the United States.

The recognition highlighted her outstanding academic performance, commitment, and professional excellence throughout this international training program, which brought together members of the Armed Forces and security institutions from different countries across the hemisphere.

During the program, Lieutenant First Class León took part in Civil Affairs planning and coordination exercises, addressing topics such as operational environment analysis, identification of community needs and critical infrastructure, civil-military cooperation, and the development of recommendations to support decision-making in complex operational scenarios.

Her participation also provided a valuable opportunity for professional exchange and international cooperation, enabling her to share experiences with representatives from different countries and strengthen knowledge that can later be applied and shared in the performance of her duties within the Chilean Navy.

At Red MAMLa, we proudly congratulate Valeria León on this important recognition, which reflects her commitment to professional excellence, continuous learning, and service.

Every achievement attained by one of our members also helps to highlight the talent, expertise, and leadership of the women who serve within maritime institutions across our region. Because when one woman moves forward, she opens paths, inspires others, and strengthens an entire professional community.

Congratulations, Valeria, on this outstanding professional achievement!
