The Latin American Network of Women in Maritime Authorities (Red MAMLa) participated as a Permanent Observer in the Annual Ordinary Meeting of Full Members and Permanent Observers of the 48th REPICA, held on September 7 and 8, 2026, at the Onyx Room of the Crown Plaza Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Representing the Network were three members of its Executive Committee: Magdalena Santos, President; Farash Duarte, Head of General Coordination; and Dayanis Escorcia, Director of the Communications Committee. They shared their perspectives on the topics addressed during the sessions, bringing the perspective of women who are part of the professional workforce of the Latin American maritime industry.

The meeting was chaired by Alejandro Campo, President of the 48th REPICA, with Otto Noack serving as Technical Secretary. The agenda included a review of the minutes and follow-up on the resolutions from the previous edition, the admission of new members, and the selection of the host country for REPICA 2028.

The program also provided an opportunity to exchange views on strategic issues for the sector, including port tariffs and best practices, the challenges of providing shore-side electricity to vessels, the importance of advancing toward zero-emission ports, and the role of ports in the global supply chain.

Red MAMLa’s participation in events of this nature contributes to ongoing regional dialogue on women’s participation in the development of the maritime industry, promoting the exchange of experiences and strengthening the voice of women professionals in discussions that help shape the future of maritime and port activities.
