From September 7 to 11, the Network of Women of Latin American Maritime Authorities (Red MAMLa) will participate in the 48th Meeting of Central American Port Authorities (REPICA), to be held in the Dominican Republic.

Red MAMLa will participate in the panel “Women Who Move Ports, Build Development,” with the presentation “Tides of Change: The Role of Red MAMLa in Regional Port Development,” to be delivered by our President, Magdalena Santos.

This participation is part of the Permanent Observer Membership that our Association obtained in 2023, during the 45th REPICA held in Managua, Nicaragua, following a unanimous vote by the Full Members of the Port Authorities of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. Since then, Red MAMLa has had the honor of representing, in this regional forum, Latin American women who are part of the professional workforce of the maritime industry.

The 2026 edition of REPICA will bring together authorities, port operators, and industry experts to address topics such as innovation, logistics, port security and protection, the cruise industry, and port environmental management, among other key areas essential to the competitiveness of the Central American region.

Organized by the Central American Commission for Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) together with the representative of the Host Country, which this year is the Dominican Port Authority, REPICA is the main annual meeting forum for the port sector in Central America and the Caribbean, aimed at strengthening the integration and sustainable development of the industry.
