RED MAMLa COMMEMORATES FIVE YEARS OF ITS DIGITAL PLATFORM AND LAUNCHES ITS REDESIGNED WEBSITE WITH IMO SUPPORT

During April 2026, the Network of Women of Maritime Authorities of Latin America (Red MAMLa) celebrates a significant milestone: the fifth anniversary of the launch of its institutional website, www.redmamla.org. Since its creation in 2021, this platform has become a fundamental pillar for the dissemination of information, knowledge, and collaboration in the maritime-port sector of the region.

The website was officially launched on April 5, 2021, during the presidency of Paula Pérez (Colombia), marking a strategic advancement and providing Red MAMLa with a solid institutional platform that complemented its initial presence on social media.

Since its launch, the website has served as a key space to showcase the Network’s work, strengthen integration among its Member States, and promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge through technical and current content. The positive reception from users, reflected in sustained interest in its publications, has reaffirmed the relevance of this tool as a channel for communication and regional engagement.

Over these five years, the platform has continuously evolved and gained recognition for its content. The “Maritime Chronicles” section has become one of the most valued by audiences, offering specialized analysis and insights from experts in the sector.

In response to new digital dynamics and the growing needs of its community, in 2025 Red MAMLa initiated a comprehensive redesign of its website. This new phase was led under the presidency of Macarena Cladera (Uruguay), with the participation of Lissette Moreno (Chile), and in collaboration with PIMBA Studio. The renewed version was presented in trial mode during the VII General Assembly and VIII Regional Conference held in December of that year.

Today, as part of this commemoration, the Network officially relaunches its platform in its new format, incorporating substantial improvements aimed at optimizing the user experience, expanding access to information, and strengthening connectivity among stakeholders in the regional maritime ecosystem.

Key improvements include the expansion of the Member States section, now featuring contact information for Maritime Authorities and links to their digital platforms, as well as a more efficient reorganization of content in the News and Maritime Chronicles sections.

Additionally, new sections have been introduced to enrich the website, such as a Document Repository with differentiated access, a space dedicated to Strategic Partners and the IMO as the parent organization, strengthening institutional coordination, a section on commemorative dates highlighting key milestones in the sector, and an Events section to promote the Network’s activities and initiatives.

This process of continuous improvement and digital evolution aligns with Red MAMLa’s commitment to innovation and to strengthening its mission: contributing to the development of the maritime-port sector and increasing the visibility of women’s roles in the industry across Latin America.

On this fifth anniversary, Red MAMLa expresses special recognition to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the parent organization under whose framework this Network was created, and whose support has been fundamental and consistent in the development and consolidation of this digital initiative throughout its different stages.

Finally, the Network extends its gratitude to all individuals, institutions, and organizations that have been part of this process, as well as to the user community whose participation and interest have driven the growth of this space.

With a clear vision for the future, Red MAMLa will continue strengthening its platform as a hub for connection, information, and development for the maritime community in the region.
