MEMBER STATE PERU ENCOURAGES YOUNG WOMEN'S INTEREST IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE MARITIME SECTOR

As part of the commemorative activities for the International Day for Women in Maritime, and in line with the commitment undertaken by Peru as a Member State of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), together with members of the Latin American Women Maritime Authorities Network (MAMLa Network), a series of presentations was held for fifth-year secondary school students at the emblematic educational institutions General Prado, located in the district of Bellavista, and Miguel Grau, in Magdalena del Mar.

The initiative aims to introduce young women to the maritime sector by showcasing the wide range of professional development opportunities it offers and encouraging their participation in careers related to the port, shipbuilding, and logistics industries.

It also seeks to highlight the valuable contributions of women professionals to strengthening the maritime industry and advancing the country’s sustainable development.
