MAMLa NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE SETS STRATEGIC GUIDELINES AND STRENGTHENS REGIONAL VISIBILITY FOR 2026

The Network of Women of Maritime Authorities of Latin America (MAMLa Network) held its first Communications Committee meeting of 2026 on January 26, with the aim of establishing strategic guidelines and strengthening the institutional visibility of the Network.

The session was led by the Director of the Communications Committee, Dayanis Escorcia, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of consolidating active, coordinated communication aligned with the Network’s objectives. On this occasion, the President of the MAMLa Network, Magdalena Santos, urged member countries to reinforce their participation and enhance the dissemination of activities carried out, in accordance with institutional guidelines.

During the meeting, the importance of maintaining a constant flow of information was emphasized. In this regard, it was reiterated that representatives from each Member State of the Network will serve as the official channel for submitting news, thereby strengthening structured and effective communication.

In the editorial sphere, the Editor of the MAMLa Network website, Lissette Moreno, presented the communications plan for 2026, which includes key milestones such as the introduction of the new Executive Committee and the launch of the revamped institutional website, along with the promotion of its features and sections.

Additionally, the main communication pillars were defined, highlighting an approach aligned with the standards of the Gender Program and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to promote the visibility of women’s roles in the regional maritime sector. The proposal also includes complementary publications, such as commemorative dates, content about Sister Associations (WIMAs), and the Maritime Authorities of the Member States.

The meeting concluded with a call to continue working collaboratively to strengthen the presence and impact of the MAMLa Network at the international level.
