RED MAMLa PARTICIPATED IN THE FIRST TECHNICAL WORKSHOP ON VARIOUS IMO MATTERS ALONGSIDE THE MARITIME AUTHORITIES OF ROCRAM
The Latin American Maritime Authorities Women’s Network – MAMLa Network was present at the First Technical Workshop on Various IMO Matters, held on October 20 and 21, 2025, in Lima, Peru, with the participation of representatives from the 13 maritime authorities that are members of the Regional Operational Cooperation Network of Maritime Authorities of the Americas (ROCRAM).
The training was organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under the Integrated Technical Cooperation Program (PICT) in coordination with the General Directorate of Port Authorities and Coast Guard (DICAPI), Maritime Authority of Peru, host country of the meeting.
The opening ceremony was held at the Los Delfines Hotel, within the framework of the XXIV Ordinary Meeting of ROCRAM and the I IMO Technical Workshop. The event featured speeches by the Commander-in-Chief of the Peruvian Navy and the Secretary-General of ROCRAM, followed by a presentation by Mr. Carlos Salgado, Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Section (CT-IMO), who led the technical workshop.

The program was developed by Carlos Salgado in conjunction with IMO Consultant Roberto Annichini, who led sessions on topics such as the Integrated Technical Cooperation Program (ITCP) 2026–2027, the new thematic implementation of the IMO, the application of strategic planning tools, and the post-IMSA management model, among other key topics for strengthening the institutional capacities of maritime authorities in the region.
A round table discussion was also held on training needs, in which participants shared experiences and proposals for incorporation into the new IMO technical cooperation program.
From this perspective and based on the restructuring of the IMO’s Technical Cooperation Division, Red MAMLa reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality and strengthening the technical capacities of women in the maritime field, contributing to the fulfillment of the strategic objectives of the IMO and the regional maritime community.
