At an event held on the morning of January 30, 2026, the president of the MAMLa Network, attorney Magdalena Santos, delivered a presentation as part of the celebration of Honduran Women’s Day, which is commemorated every year on January 25.

On this occasion, the commemoration held special significance, marking 70 years since the historic achievement through which Honduran women obtained the right to vote.

The event was organized by the Gender Unit of the Honduran Maritime Authority and was presided over by the institution’s Deputy Director General and Honduras’s Permanent Representative to the MAMLa Network, attorney Laura Rivera Carbajal. It also included the participation of UN Women, represented by engineer Tania Najarro.

Women from the Maritime Authority assigned to the institution’s main headquarters in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, attended the commemoration.
