WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY : ONLY ONE EARTH
The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is in charge of celebrating every June 5, the World Environment Day, a date established by UN resolution, which coincides with the beginning of the Conference on the Human Environment held in 1972, better known as the Stockholm Conference.
The celebration of this day is currently the largest global platform for environmental disclosure that is hosted by a different country each year, and is celebrated by millions of people around the world.
For the year 2022, the host country is Sweden and the chosen outreach campaign is #OnlyOneEarth, which aims to raise awareness of the environmental crisis while promoting the protection and restoration of our planet through various activities.
The main objective is to move towards a sustainable life for the planet, carrying out actions to protect biodiversity, better use of energy, reduction of annual greenhouse gas emissions, reduction of plastic waste, among others.
On this topic the UN points out that: "... urgent action is needed to address these pressing issues, creating sustainable living in harmony with nature, so that we can ensure that this beautiful and unique planet remains a comfortable home for humankind".
