STRENGTHEN OUR ORGANIZATION BY INTEGRATING NEW MEMBERS
The Latin American Network of Women Maritime Authorities held a virtual Extraordinary Assembly to approve the incorporation of new members to the organization.
The Assembly was convened by the Executive Committee, as stipulated in the Network's Regulations, and was attended by representatives of the Member States. The inclusion of new members will strengthen the capacities of the Network, especially in its six Permanent Task Committees, focused on promoting common strategies and objectives.
During the session, 62 new members were approved, distributed in three categories: 47 Alternate Members, 13 Associate Members and 2 Honorary Members. These new participants come from 12 countries in the region, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay. The diversity of nationalities will strengthen the exchange of experiences and collaborative work within the Network.
To ensure the proper integration of the new members, an inductive workshop called “We are MAMLa” has been planned. This workshop will address topics such as the background, the evolution of the Network and its guiding documents, as well as the commitments assumed when joining the Permanent Task Committees. This training process seeks to align the new members with the vision and mission of Red MAMLa.
The Executive Committee emphasized that the incorporation of new women into the MAMLa Network represents an important step towards the consolidation of the organization, reaffirming its commitment to the empowerment of women in the Latin American maritime field.
