RED MAMLa PARTICIPATES IN COURSE: UNIFORM IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTROL OF THE SULPHUR CONTENT LIMIT (MARPOL Annex VI)

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), through its Committee on Technical Cooperation and Implementation, has sent an invitation to participate in the Distance Learning Course "Uniform Implementation and Control of the Sulphur Content Limit (MARPOL Annex VI)" offered by the Kingdom of Spain. The main objective of this course was to strengthen the capacity of countries to effectively implement the regulations on the sulphur content of fuels used by ships.

Aimed in particular at port State and environmental inspectors, the course focused on providing participants with essential knowledge of the MARPOL Annex VI legislation and best practices for the inspection and control of sulphur emissions. The activity took place from June 5 to 19, 2024, in an asynchronous format, supplemented with virtual sessions recorded through the Teams platform, which offered flexibility in following the theoretical and practical content.

The Latin American Network of Women Maritime Authorities (MAMLa Network) actively participated in this edition, thanks to the management of the Latin American and Caribbean Section (TC-OMI) and the allocation of exclusive places for our organization.

As a result, our members had the opportunity to learn about fuel inspection and sampling techniques on ships, both in emission control areas and in global operations.
