RED MAMLA AND MUNDOMARITIMO SIGN A COOPERATION AGREEMENT
The Network of Women Maritime Authorities of Latin America (Red MAMLa) and MundoMaritimo signed a framework cooperation agreement on 19th October to establish a partnership between the two organisations. The partnership was signed by Claudia Magna, director of MundoMarítimo and partner of WISTA Chile, and Elvia Bustavino, President of Red MAMLa and Deputy Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), during the third day of TOC Americas 2023.
The objective of the agreement is to exchange experiences, documents, information and knowledge of the achievements and results of the work and research carried out by each of the parties, as permitted by the statutes and/or regulations of each organisation, in order to promote and enhance the role of women in the maritime port sector. It also aims to jointly develop programmes and projects of mutual interest, including technical training in the maritime, port and logistics sectors.
"For Red MAMLA it is an honour and a privilege to have an agreement with MundoMarítimo, it is a space that gives us tremendous visibility, we can show the professional work done by women in the maritime, port and logistics sector of our membership. For me as President, it is an honour to have this alliance, which aims to share experiences, documents, information, knowledge and the development of joint programmes", said Elvia Bustavino.
For her part, Claudia Magna commented: "As a specialised media, one of the points that we have most privileged is to make known the importance of women in the maritime, port and logistics sector. I believe that this association promotes not only the private sector, but also the maritime authorities, so that they feel represented and can have a space in this media to disseminate what they are doing, thus empowering women and positioning them as an important reference in this industry".
The agreement also aims to promote networking activities and to carry out teaching, research, consultancy and production projects. In addition, mutual consultation on projects, activities, programmes or events related to the roles and competencies of both parties.
FUTURE ACTIVITIES
Joint activities will include webinars, promotion of Red MAMLa in MundoMaritimo and dissemination of the organisation's activities at the Latin American level. "It is a long-term agreement, a strategic alliance that aims to highlight gender equality and diversity in the industry", said the director of MundoMaritimo.
"We will work with the publication of articles on the MundoMaritimo website on gender equality in the sector. We will also promote joint webinars that can bring together all of Latin America on technical and gender issues. We want this to be a delegated agreement that will be carried out over time. We will work hand in hand with MundoMarítimo so that all the projects we have together become a reality, it is a commitment", said the President of Red MAMLa.
