ONLINE EVENT: TOGETHER FOR CLEANER OCEANS

On the occasion of the celebration of World Oceans Day, the Latin American Women in Maritime - Red MAMLa, through its Social Committee has organized the Conversatory "Together for Cleaner Oceans", which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 9:00 am GMT-5.

This online event seeks to promote favorable actions towards the sustainable management and protection of the oceans, in the framework of the World Day of the objectives established by the United Nations, which urge to recognize the importance of the ocean for our planet.

The activity acts towards Sustainable Development Goal No. 14: "Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development", which emphasizes how the oceans are the point where the planet, people and prosperity meet, and that all of us, as shareholders of the company that is the Earth, recognize the responsibility we have towards the planet, people and the oceans, which are its life force, and act accordingly.

  PROGRAM OF THE EVENT

09:00: Welcoming remarks - President of Red MAMLa - Elvia Bustavino, Secretary General of the Panama Maritime Authority.

09:10: "Work in the field of the study of invasive species and their impact on vessels and coastal industries" - Lic Nancy Correa, Naval Hydrographic Service of Argentina.

09:45: "Sargasso Management in the Mexican Oceans" - C. Rear Admiral Alejandro López Zenteno, in his capacity as Coordinator of the Strategy for the Attention to Sargasso, National Maritime Authority of Mexico.

10:20: "Marine meteorology and its contribution to the decade of the oceans." - Leonardo Moreno Rincón, Environmental and Sanitary Engineer, Master in Meteorological Sciences and PhD Candidate in Marine Sciences.

10:55: "Atlantic is: a collective action for the Ocean" - Katerine Fortich, Coastal Inspector, Port Captaincy of Barranquilla, General Maritime Directorate of Colombia and Alternate Member of Red MAMLa.

11:15: "Documentary of the cleaning day at Puerto Piojo beach" - Camila Polícaro, Secretary of the Presidency of the Port of Dock Sud, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

11:30: Closing remarks. Macarena Cladera - Director of the Social Committee and Head of the Management Center of the Investigations Division of the Uruguayan National Naval Prefecture.
