MAMLas AT THE HELM: DGMM HONDURAS
The Maritime Authority of Honduras is the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine (DGMM), an institution that oversees maritime safety, protection of the marine environment and compliance with international laws and conventions. Among its functions, the DGMM Honduras also works actively in its commitment to the training and qualification of seafarers and the flagging of ships, ensuring efficiency in the provision of its services through modern and competitive mechanisms, which contribute to the integral development of the country.
In this Institution, our Alternate Member, Angélica Meza, holds the position of International Ship Registry Officer.
Angélica Meza is a lawyer, with a Master's Degree in Maritime Law, studies she completed, between September 2018 to November 2019, at the International Maritime University (WMU), Malmo, Sweden. There, she was also Vice President of WMUWA (Women's Association of the International Maritime University).
In the field of Maritime Safety, she was Administrator of Recognized Organizations in the Department of Maritime Safety (2017-2020) and participated in the drafting of the Regulations for the Issuance of Certificates for National Vessels and the ITC 69 National Regulations.
She also had active participation in the elaboration of the MLC National Regulations 2006.
