INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR WOMEN IN THE MARITIME 2023: "MOBILIZING NETWORKS FOR GENDER EQUALITY"
The International Maritime Organization by resolution A.1170(32) of December 9, 2021, adopted the date May 18 as the International Day for Women in Maritime, being celebrated for the first time last year with the development of a virtual international symposium where topics associated with the concepts of Training, Visibility and Recognition for women in the maritime sector were discussed.
For this year, the IMO has chosen as its theme: "Mobilizing Networks for Gender Equality" and will be commemorated with a World Conference of Women In Maritime Associations (WIMA).
The event will bring together representatives of the eight regional Women In Maritime Associations and will be held on May 18 and 19 at IMO Headquarters in hybrid mode for the first day (main hall) and in person for the second day (meeting room 9).
For this occasion, Red MAMLa will be represented by Elvia Bustavino (Panama), President of our organization, Draiza Medina (Venezuela), Director of Communications and Catherine Gonzalez (Chile) Director of CRECI.
