INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE
Since 2016, every February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is commemorated as a recognition of the trajectory of women who have made valuable contributions towards the advancement of science and technology.
The initiative was promoted mainly by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and UN Women with the aim of promoting education and equal access for women and girls in the areas of technology, engineering and science in general.
This year, the 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly focuses on the theme: "Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us", in line with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
