FIRST LEADERSHIP ACCELERATOR PROGRAM 2023
Maritime SheEO has set the start of this year's first Leadership Accelerator Program (LEAP) for March 8 to coincide with International Women's Day.
Like last year, the International Maritime Organization in keeping with its commitment to work towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, promoting women's leadership and visibility in the maritime sector, will be awarding a total of 20 scholarships among the 8 Women's Associations created under the Gender Program.
Consequently, the IMO Gender Program, created in 1998, seeks to support the empowerment of women through specific scholarships for women; the facilitation of high-level technical training for women in the maritime sector; the creation of a framework in which women are selected for professional development opportunities in maritime and port administrations and maritime training institutes.
In this context, the Leadership Accelerator Program (LEAP) provides for a live introductory session and a duration of twelve weeks, divided into 10 weeks of self-study modules and 2 weeks of break where participants are required to make presentations on their projects. The graduation of the program will take place through an online ceremony.
To apply, the following selection requirements must be considered:
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience.
- Good command of the English language (reading, writing, speaking and listening), since this is the language of instruction of the program.
- Cultural sensitivity: ability to work in a multicultural context and to relate to participants of different nationalities in a respectful manner.
- Candidates will be selected based on their ability to commit to full participation for the duration of the program.
- Be part of the MAMLa Network membership. It is a requirement that Red MAMLa support the application with a signed letter of recommendation.
The application must be submitted in its entirety.
The deadline for submission of applications is February 20, 2023. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Members of our membership who wish to apply should enter their data in the following form: https://forms.gle/v43ypRDoJfoVrvUu6 and inform coordinacion@redmamla.org about the issuance of the letter to support the candidacy.
Finally, we take this opportunity to congratulate our members: Carla González, Associate Member from Dominican Republic; and Carolina Pacheco, Permanent Representative from Chile, for their successful participation in LEAP and their recent graduation from the Program. Congratulations to both of them!
