7 YEARS OF MAKING HISTORY FOR WOMEN IN THE LATIN AMERICAN MARITIME SECTOR

Today, as we proudly and excitedly celebrate the seventh anniversary of the MAMLa Network, it is inevitable to look back and reflect on the extraordinary journey we have travelled together. These seven years have been a true journey of growth, collaboration and transformation, and each step has been made possible by the unwavering commitment of those who have accompanied us on this journey, many of whom honour us with their presence today.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our valued membership. You, with your dedication, passion and leadership, have been the true heart of this network. Your tireless work and constant commitment are the engine that drives our mission and inspires us every day to reach new horizons.

I also extend my gratitude to the member states, whose trust and support for our mission and vision have been fundamental. They have understood that strengthening our institutions is not only a regional priority, but a necessity for a more just and equitable future. Thank you for allowing us to continue to grow, expand our capacities and generate a positive impact throughout Latin America.

It is also essential to recognise our strategic allies, whose collaboration and commitment have been essential to achieve our goals. Thank you for believing in the MAMLa Network and, with generosity, joining efforts to pursue common goals: promoting development, fostering women's leadership and building a more inclusive and sustainable future for our region.

Special thanks to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), whose leadership and cooperation have been a key pillar in our development. Your support has enabled us to move towards a safer, more efficient and equitable maritime environment, working together to leave no one behind and promoting equality as a fundamental principle. Thank you for helping us to dream of a sector free of discrimination and full of opportunities for all.

In these seven years, we have managed to bring more women into this sea-facing profession, breaking down barriers and demonstrating that change is possible when we work together. However, we know that we still have a long way to go. We are just at the beginning, and the horizon is full of challenges, but also of great opportunities.

Let us continue to move forward with determination and hope, advancing women's leadership, transforming the maritime sector and building a future that is truly inclusive, just and prosperous for all.

With gratitude for what we have achieved and with a firm commitment to what we have yet to build, I wish you all a happy seventh anniversary. May this be a starting point to continue working together, successfully and collaboratively, towards a future full of shared achievements.

Let's keep moving forward, because together, we are unstoppable!
