Uruguay

The Oriental Republic of Uruguay has a coastal extension of 1,400 kilometers long, formed by the Uruguay River, Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean and a jurisdiction over the continental surface that extends 350 nautical miles.
It has 8 ports with cargo movement throughout the country, the main one being the Port of Montevideo, which is located on the Río de la Plata and is geographically one of the main cargo movement routes of MERCOSUR.
The National Naval Prefecture is the National Maritime Authority for Safety, Protection and Prevention of Pollution from ships.
NATIONAL NAVAL PREFECTURE
It is the body with competence in the application and control of compliance with international conventions on maritime safety and marine pollution.
MISSION
Maintain public order, exercise the control of navigation safety as Police Authority in the areas: Maritime, River and Lake in the jurisdiction of the National Navy, develop the policy of preservation of the aquatic environment especially in the fight against pollution and intervene in the flagging of ships and perform registry functions, in order to contribute to the mission of the same.
