Guatemala

Located in the northern section of Central America, Guatemala has 5 maritime ports and a 400 km coastline surrounded to the west by the Pacific Ocean (3 ports) and to the east by the Caribbean Sea (2 ports).
The maritime activity is under the responsibility of the Ministry of National Defense, which exercises and administers the function of National Maritime Authority, through its specialized units in the maritime field (Maritime Force of the Guatemalan Army)

The Maritime ViceMinistry of the Ministry of National Defense is in charge of the efficient operation and organization of the functions of Port State, Flag State and Coastal State, regarding the exercise of the National Maritime Authority by delegation of the Minister of National Defense, in coordination with the Command of the Navy of the National Defense, the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs and the General Directorate of Port Captaincy.
