MACh NETWORK AND MAMLa NETWORK MEETING: STRENGTHENING COOPERATION AMONG WOMEN IN THE MARITIME INDUSTRY

The Chilean Women Customs Officers Network (Red MACh) extended a special invitation to our Honorary Member and Web Editor of Red MAMLa, Lissette Moreno, to participate in a professional exchange session aimed at strengthening collaboration between women’s networks in the maritime-port and customs sectors.

The virtual meeting featured an enriching dialogue on best practices, opportunities for cooperation, and female leadership experiences in strategic maritime and port industry sectors.

During the meeting, Lissette Moreno presented the origins of Red MAMLa, its evolution, and the strategic guidelines that direct the organization’s work. These guidelines focus on increasing the visibility, participation, and empowerment of professional women in the maritime and port industry in Latin America.

Lissette also discussed the progress achieved through the Red MAMLa Digital Platform, highlighting the launch of the organization’s first website in April 2021. This milestone marked a decisive step in consolidating our network and disseminating our initiatives related to gender, professional development, and empowering Latin American women.

Red MACh valued the contribution of shared regional experience. Red MACh emphasized that these spaces allow for a broader perspective on action, strengthened capacities, and a commitment to female leadership in key sectors of foreign trade and border security.

Red MACh—Mujeres Aduaneras de Chile (Chilean Women Customs Officers Network)—is a community of around 70 female National Customs Service officials. Ana María Torres González, an architect and the network’s co-founder, coordinates a rotating team. After three years, the network’s mission remains to promote equity and female leadership by creating opportunities for development that contribute to a more inclusive, fair, and equal customs sector.

Red MAMLa appreciates the invitation from Red MACh and reaffirms its commitment to promoting alliances that foster professional development, equal opportunities, and the creation of more inclusive and sustainable work environments in Latin America.
