RED MAMLa HIGHLIGHTS PROGRESS IN REGIONAL INTEGRATION FOLLOWING COURTESY MEETING IN HONDURAS
As part of efforts to strengthen regional maritime cooperation, the Network of Women of Maritime Authorities of Latin America (Red MAMLa) positively գնահատed the recent courtesy meeting held in Honduras between sector authorities.
The meeting was led by the Director General of the Honduran Merchant Marine, Captain Alejandro Rodríguez Escoto, who received the Executive Director of the Central American Maritime Transport Commission (COCATRAM), Otto Noack. Also in attendance were the Deputy Director General and Pro Tempore President of the Network of Women in Maritime and Port Authorities of Central America (REMPORT), Laura Rivera Carbajal, and the President of Red MAMLa, Magdalena Santos.
From Red MAMLa’s perspective, the meeting represented a strategic space to consolidate alliances aimed at regional integration and institutional strengthening of the maritime sector. In particular, the importance of advancing toward regulatory harmonization among the countries of the region was highlighted, as well as continuing to promote a cross-cutting gender approach that encourages greater participation of women in maritime authorities.
