MAMLa GUATEMALA COMMITTEE HOLDS WORKING MEETING AT THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE
The MAMLa Guatemala Committee held a working meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, with the aim of strengthening training and cooperation efforts, in line with the objectives of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and within the framework of the work promoted by the MAMLa Network and REMPORT.
During the meeting, the official introduction of Guatemala’s new representatives to the MAMLa Network took place. Lieutenant (Navy) Ada María Barrientos assumed the role of permanent representative, while Ensign (Navy) Katherine Nichole Madrid was appointed as alternate representative. The occasion also recognized the contributions of Ensign (Frigate) Ingrid Jaquelina García and Ensign (Frigate) Sara Navichoc, who concluded their terms, highlighting the progress achieved in promoting female leadership within the national maritime sector.
The Director General of Maritime Affairs, Navy Captain (DEM) Óscar Noé Ramos Larios, reaffirmed institutional support for the work carried out by the MAMLa Network, emphasizing its contribution to strengthening human talent in the maritime field. Meanwhile, Ana Lorena Rabbé, honorary member of the MAMLa Network and member of the Communications Committee, stressed the importance of increasing the visibility of women in Guatemala’s maritime and port sectors, as part of an ongoing effort to recognize their contributions to the development of the industry.
