Su línea de costa tiene una longitud aproximada de 640 kilómetros, en la que reúne a un total de 9 puertos situados a lo largo de su Región Litoral. La Región Litoral está conformada por siete provincias (Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Manabí, Guayas, Santa Elena, Los Ríos y El Oro) que cuentan con playas y balnearios muy atractivos para el turismo.
La actividad marítimo portuaria está a cargo de la Subsecretaría de Puertos y Transporte Marítimo y Fluvial.

To make Ecuador a regional leader in the sector, promoting economic development and ensuring the sustainable use of marine–coastal resources.
