RED MAMLa PRESIDENT IS HONORED WITH THE MARITIME AWARD OF THE AMERICAS 2022

The Maritime Award of the Americas 2022 is an initiative organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports - CIP in collaboration with the North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA), HudsonAnalytix, Rightship, the Latin American Society of Marine Oil Terminal Operators and Monobuoys (SLOM) and other strategic partners.

Due to the important role that the port sector plays in global socioeconomic development, and considering that in Latin America and the Caribbean, around 95% of exports are moved through ports, this Award seeks to recognize successful practices in the maritime and port sectors of the Hemisphere that demonstrate excellence, innovation, leadership, sustainability and replicability.

In this eighth edition, the 2022 Award recognized successful practices according to their positive contributions to the modernization of the port sector, in the following categories:

  1. Competitive Digitalization
  2. Port Cyber Security
  3. Green Port Management and Port Sustainability
  4. Empowerment and Equality
  5. Outstanding Woman of the Port and Maritime Sector 2022

The Jury Committee was integrated by representatives of:

  • Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS);
  • North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA);
  • HudsonAnalytix;
  • Rightship;
  • Sociedad Latinoamericana de Operadores de Terminales Marítimo Petroleros y Monoboyas (SLOM);
  • Inter-American Commission of Women (OAS/CIM);
  • Department of Sustainable Development (OAS/DDS).

Accordingly, in the category "Outstanding Woman in the Port and Maritime Sector 2022" the award went to the President of Red MAMLA and Secretary General of the Panama Maritime Authority, Elvia Bustavino, receiving this stimulus for her impeccable work, leadership and significant contributions to the development of the maritime, port and logistics sector in Latin America.
