REPRESENTATIVES OF RED MAMLa STAND OUT DURING THE COMMEMORATION OF SEAFARERS DAY AT THE INEA

The activity began with a presentation addressed to the authorities of the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA); President, Vice-president and the entire management team of INEA, as well as representatives of the other Institutes that are part of the Vice-Ministry of Aquatic Transportation. This presentation was given by the First Woman Submariner of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Latin America, TN Draiza Medina Álvarez, who currently serves as Coordinator of the INEA Office and Director of the Communications Committee of Red MAMLa. Draiza Medina spoke on the "Role of Women in the Seafarers", recognizing the role that women have played in promoting the integral development of the Nation.

During her presentation, in addition to making visible the work carried out by Red MAMLa, She pointed out the professional trajectory in the aquatic spaces of important women. Captain Rossy Tussen, first woman to command an oil tanker in Venezuela; Officer Victoria Chinea, as First Commander of a Personnel Water Transport Vessel (TAP);  Officer Fátima Pantoja as Chief Engineer of a Tugboat, both vessels belonging to INEA, as well as other officers of the Venezuelan Merchant Marine who have reached operational positions. She also informed that there are currently 27.048 seafarers registered in the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces, among men and women.

As well, during the commemoration, the following decorations were awarded: Honor to the Merit of the Venezuelan Merchant Marine in its Only Class; The Merchant Marine Ribbon, whose objective is to exalt distinguished acts and time of service, efficiency and good behavior in the exercise of this profession; The Nautical Ribbon, destined to recognize the seniority in the service of the officers of the Merchant Marine and the Sea Badge (navigation specialty). Along with these recognitions, the personnel of Captains of Height, Managers and Coordinators of Institutes linked to the Venezuelan aquatic sector, were condecorated for their perseverance, dedication and valuable contributions while their time of service, among them was Dr. Lizett Carrero, who serves as Legal Consultant of INEA and Permanent Representative of Venezuela to Red MAMLa. The President of the Society of Maritime Medicine of Venezuela, Dr. Mayte Duque, was also decorated for her outstanding work for the benefit of the Seafarers; thus, they were awarded such distinctions and validated their honorable "Commitment to Blue Venezuela".
