MAMLas AT THE HELM: WORLD PORTS CONFERENCE IAPH2022

Next May, the International Association of Ports and Harbors - IAPH, will hold the World Ports Conference 2022, an event that brings together the main stakeholders of the sector to learn, share information, establish networks and mutual cooperation ties that allow to raise the performance of the main port regions of the world.

The 2022 version of this World Conference will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, British Columbia, Canada, between May 16 and 18, under the concept of "Closing the Gaps" in the competitiveness of world seaports, through the development of an ambitious agenda, where participants will have access to lectures, presentations and workshops.

Among the speakers at this event is Flor Pitty (Panama), Alternate Representative of Red MAMLa and current General Director of Ports and Auxiliary Maritime Industries of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).

Flor Pitty holds a Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Business Management and a Master's Degree in Maritime Transportation Science from the prestigious Taiwan Ocean University. In addition, she is an International Maritime Organization (IMO) Instrument Implementation Code (III Code) Auditor and is certified for the Verification of Container Gross Mass by the Valencia Port Foundation.

In her early days, as Head of the Port Operations Department (AMP), she managed to effectively implement the process of creating nautical charts for the Republic of Panama, which allowed her to develop several projects with International Organizations, such as: the Maritime Routes of the Greater Caribbean, together with the Central American Commission of Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) and the Association of Caribbean States; among others.

She has also been part of the development of large port and maritime projects in Central and South America, reinforcing the visualization of women in key management positions, strengthening the maritime and port sector, both nationally and internationally.

Today, she is considered a Leading Global Industry Speaker for her active participation and contributions to the maritime sector, standing out in the position of Chair of the IAPH Women's Forum, where the difficulties for the integration of women in the maritime industry are analyzed, ways are sought to attract more women to join the industry, training programs are promoted and the development of female talent is debated.

IAPH is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in November 1955 by a hundred world port leaders.Today, its headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan, and it brings together 160 ports and 120 port-related companies in 87 countries.  Member ports collectively handle more than 60% of the world's seaborne trade and more than 60% of the world's container traffic.
